In 1970, Jose Carmine Dianese became the first Brazilian to earn a Ph.D. in plant pathology from UC Davis. He’s a professor emeritus at the University of Brasilia, in his hometown. 

Ann Pitzer graduated as valedictorian of her class when she earned her bachelor of science in home economics in 1958.

The Chinese master chef is one of UC Davis’ most famous graduates, known for his 30 best-selling cookbooks and popular television series “Yan Can Cook,” broadcast worldwide.

John Bissell II of Sacramento is founder and CEO of Micromidas, which converts wastewater sludge into petrochemicals and plastics.
