As the new school year approaches, the campus is buzzing with excitement as students make their way back. This is the perfect opportunity for parents to explore the many resources UC Davis offers to support their students’ health, safety, and success. It’s also a wonderful moment for me to introduce myself as the new associate director of development for parent giving.
With over a decade of experience in higher education, I am passionate about ensuring that every student has the resources needed to thrive and achieve their goals. My commitment to student success fuels my work, and I am proud to support impactful campus initiatives such as the Student Emergency Relief Aid Fund and the Redwood SEED Scholars program. In my role, I also serve as your direct link to the UC Davis Parents Fund and the Family Fellows program.
Each year, thousands of UC Davis parents demonstrate their dedication by contributing to the UC Davis Parents Fund. These generous donations are crucial in enriching the educational experience for all UC Davis students, supporting a wide range of innovative learning and research opportunities. Because Parents Fund contributions are unrestricted, they give the chancellor the flexibility to address emerging opportunities and urgent student needs as they arise.
The Family Fellows program brings together a group of UC Davis families—parents, grandparents, and others—who are deeply committed to enhancing student success and creating exceptional collegiate experiences. By supporting meaningful programs, these families enjoy a special connection with university leaders, faculty, and staff, while inspiring other UC Davis families through their impactful philanthropic giving.
If you’d like to meet in person, I’d love to connect during Aggie Family Move-In week, September 17-19, from 5-7 p.m. at the UC Davis Bookstore. I’ll be at the Family Fellows table each evening, ready to chat with parents, answer questions, and share more about how you can engage with the university.
I am truly excited to work with you and to help build a strong, supportive community at UC Davis. Together, we can ensure that every student has the tools they need to succeed!
With warm regards,
Tessa
