About Winery: Gustavo & Jackie Sotelo are the proprietors behind Orixe Sotelo, a brand founded in Sonoma, California in 2019. Orixe (o-REE-shay) is a Galician word from Latin “origo” meaning: “beginning, source, birth, origin”. Our name, Sotelo, originates in the coastal mountains of Galicia, Spain. Orixe Sotelo is the lens through which we aspire to expand upon California’s wine culture, specifically through the use of Spanish grape varieties.

Aggie Connection: While working in New York, Gustavo took Spanish wine tasting courses, and he knew he had found his passion in the world of wine. In 2010 he moved to Napa and was accepted into the prestigious Viticulture and Enology program at UC Davis, eventually graduating with a second bachelor’s degree in V&E in 2014. He then worked at a number of premium wineries in Napa and Spain, including Etude Wines, Mumm, White Rock Vineyards, Bodegas Mauro, and Scribe Winery before he started Orixe Sotelo.
